FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Do I really need a winch?
If you like to travel, explore, go fishing, 4WD'ing, or go to the beach, we strongly recommend that you invest in a winch. Winches provide you with security and comfort, as you know you will be able to get your vehicle out of a difficult situation if it occurs.
  • Can I install a winch or winch cradle myself?
Yes - if you have mechanical and technical knowledge of your vehicle it shouldn't be too hard install. Instructions and videos are also commonly available online for guidance. It may take up to a couple of hours to install. For the Ford Ranger Raptor winch cradle, you can find installation instructions on our page "Winch Cradle". If you are not confident with installing it yourself, you can ask winch installers, mechanics, or auto parts stores.
  • How do I know which model to get?
The main difference in models are the towing capacities. Ideally, you should choose a winch that is roughly 1.5x the weight of your vehicle (including load) or more. You should also consider factors of speed vs strength - which can be compared by motors and gear ratios.
  • Should I buy anything else other than the winch?
Not necessarily, but we do recommend it. Additional tools such as the cable dampener, flip up number plate, and extension rope will fasten the process of winching and improve adaptability to environment. They would especially be helpful if you enjoy offroad, bush-style 4WDing often. The flip up number plate in particular may be necessary for your vehicle if your number plate overhangs the installation space for a winch on your bull bar in ay sort of way. Please read product descriptions to know what your kit will and won't include.
  • What is maintenance like?
Regularly wash/wipe over the gear after travel to ensure dirt and dust doesn't jam it up. Regularly inspect cables, motor, electrical connections, bolts etc. for damages or defects. It is recommended to grease your winch every 3-6 months, or more frequently if regularly exposed to harsh conditions. Greasing is important to extend lifespan, prevent corrosion, and maintain smoothness.
  • Where do you ship to?
Currently, we are providing shipment to Australia and New Zealand. Keep an eye out for changes and additions.
  • Can a winch damage my vehicle?
If you are handling the winch correctly and following instructions and maintenance - then no, a winch should not damage your vehicle. They are designed for vehicle use and comply with most vehicle models. Do not exceed the winch's capacity and always use appropriate equipment.
